    Unhappy quarter mile drag

My neighbor has a 2008 srt challenger. He wants to race me I have an o2 ss a4 with 345 hp package. his is an automatic also. He claims he will beat me by at least 2 car lengths. I say no way. maybe by 1 car at best. Has anyone raced one of these srt challengers? How much would he win by? if at all.

    Sadly now demodded :(

I raped one across an intersection but I've never officially "raced" one. I did see one turn a high 13 (13.80's there abouts) at Firebird.

Is your car stock? Mine isn't. I run consistant 12.70's-12.80's...

If you get the launch right expect 13.4 to 13.2. I raced a srt charger and somehow he was cranking 12.8's though I don't remember if he had dr's or not. The challengers are heavier you should edge him out. Do you have 3.23 or or 2.73 gears? Or what is your rpm at 65mph, or look at your door and look at the codes if you find gu5(3.23) gu3(2.73) that makes about .2 of a second difference from what I have seen at the track.

This is from just a few weeks ago. Me in the right lane, SFC's and a catback on street tires versus an SRT Challenger, almost identical R/T's:

The charger is heavier than the challenger, not the other way around. It will be an interesting race, most srt-8 cars go 13.5s or so and the srt-8 jeeps usually pull high 13s stock.

I saw a new challenger at the drag strip, it was runing mid 13s. Not sure what engine or mods it had.

Both cars are capable of low 13s stock. If it's on the street go from a dig he will probably take you from a roll. I certainly wouldn't put any money on it.

Just received my February '10 issue of Car Craft -- page 66 has an article on the '09 Dodge Challenger SRT8. They indicate a curb weight of 4,146 lbs with a quarter mile time of 13.1 seconds at 108.4 mph.

Yep they are fast cars, stock vs stock it will be close with the edge going to the srt-8 car.

Saw one run at the track yesterday and ran 13.8 @108. Make it a short race and nail the launch. Give him enough tarmac and he will get you.

I think it'll be a close race. I can't see stock to stock being 2 car lengths either way from a dig, but that depends on the driver as well.
