I have heard that there was someone who got a 12.9 in a stock ls1 but I think he was a professional driver and he had more than one ls1 car to run. Not sure on the details though. Plus I am sure that was with a newer ls1 which had the ls6 intake. But there are a few guys on this thread who have gotten stock cars into the 13.0's
On a cold night (below 65 deg) Drag Radials 15psi, M6 and side stepping the clutch at 4500 and shifting perfectly; you can get a stock LS1 to hit a 13.0.
I did it at Infineon Raceway in 2000. I felt like I was going to blow the rear gears with that type of launch. Had to get the tires really hot.
So, I modded so that I could launch at 3700-4100 and I feel it's a lot less abusive. I ran 12.69 best et. I can run 12.85 all night long or right at 13.0 in 100 deg temps. Good enough for me until I step to SC. That will be soon I hope finally. I have been letting her sit for a while and working on my 350Z.

LS1 are so much cheaper to mod.

Why did I waste my money on the Z .... Ah, cause they stopped making the Bird.

Sorry, if I took us too far off topic.

    thanks all!

you are in NJ and have the best air for drag racing. with a catback, lid and nitto 555r tires, i can see a 13.

I ran my 04 GTO M6 two weeks ago at the track when it was like 95 and humid and ran a 13.45 @109 and yesterday when it was like 70 and no humitiy i ran a 13.11@111. 1/4 mile times depend on weather and altitude quite a bit that is why you get different times from everyone. and well some people just drive better

Side stepping the clutch is when you rev the motor to it's launch rpm and pivot your foot off of the clutch pedal. The spring returns it to engagement position.

This is different from Popping the clutch. Popping the clutch is where you lift your foot as fast as you can off of the clutch. It's a little smoother engagement that way but can cause a .05 difference in reaction time for me and most people.

I hope this helps with the understanding.....

The older stock clutches won't last very long with this technique. If you have the newer clutch set up like the ZO6 have or a good aftermarket clutch you can do this all day long.

The only thing I do not recomment is a 5K rolling drop in 3rd at about 60mph.
That will most likely twist the input shaft of the tranny like I did. Not so bad because then you know the weakness link and can upgrade your tranny.

50' Burners at 60mph are really cool. Just don't do them on the freeways cause it freaks out people way too much.

I only drive like an idiot when no one else is within eyesight. Just a safety rule for me. However, I 99% of my stupid stuff on the track. Four good reasons:

    1) I hate tickets and the higher insurance rates that come with them from doing stupid stuff on the street.

    2) It's actually a lot safer on the track.

    3) When I bust something. I just fix there / put it on the trailer and haul it home.

    4) If something happens like a wreck, there is someone there to save my life.

I know this is a little off track .... But, hey it's my B-day and I get to do whatever I want.
So, that means ..... I'm racing at the track tonight !!!!! Yeah !!!

OK, and why is a timeslip gonna prove anything anyways. Hell I can get a timeslip that says my car (like you would know if it was or not) that says I did 1/8 in 6.43 @102MPH, which is good for a upper 9 second 1/4. With a H/C, stock suspension, and full weight still. O yeah, on daily driven street tires.
