    driver mod!

Alright... now that I got some mods on the new bird (see sig), I've been practicing my launches... Anybody have any tips, hints, tricks, etc; cause I suck.

I drove an AWD m6 audi S4 for the last few years, and was used to just dumping the clucth @ 4k and hammering the throttle, which obviously doesn;t work here.... and I never really ran my A4 LS1 from a dig, all roll races.

Thanks for the help... got to get ready for summer. The neighbor just dropped a SC in his 99 Cobra... and is talking sh!t. I don;t think I can live with myself if he outruns me this year.

wow.... thanks for the love everyone...

I figured it out my self.... I've been dropping the clutch @ 2800 and feathering in the gas to WOT by 4500. shifting just under 6k

Beat the cobra by 4 - 10 legnths... 5 straight runs this weekend from a dig to about 100 and would have continued to pull. Got the "I'm having boost problems" excuse, but in his defense I heard him miss second the time I gave him the worse beating.

For anyone who cares... I'm still open to advice about improving the launch, or just some info on what you guys are doing.

It's all about feathering, looks like your droppin the clutch at the right rpm. After that, practice makes perfect. After every run you will know what you did wrong and what to improve, or what you did good, and what to keep doing.

Dont see your sig, maybe you can launch it at 3000...depends on what you got.

Is this on your A4 or M6? Do you have any suspension mods or sticky tires yet?

You have some good suspension stuff, only other thing I can think of would be a torque arm. You have drag radials so hooking up shouldn't be a problem....might need to heat them up esp if you're going from a dig. And you already beat him so I guess you don't really need anything...lol

I actually just found out its a 99 GT, with a cobra body kit/hood. However, he says that he the guy he bought it from swapped out the stock motor with the 4.6L that has 32valves. Its a 5spd, and he just installed an Eaton roots supercharger, not sure of other mods... or even if an upgraded 32v setup exists (don;t know much about fords). He's a real cocky mofo... and thinks he's hot shit because he's a bank security guard that gets to carry a gun.... so I really don;t like talking to him much, just beating his ass in my GM.

I can;t seem to find a non tranny mounted torque arm for the convertible.

I'm nervous about heating my tires, as I still run the stock 10 bolt, and am no where near $3k in my car fund savings to afford an upgrade.

Yeah, I beat him... but he's a little bitch. Now that I've spent all this $$$ on my car, I'd like to race some better/different competition and I know I need practicing at driving a car like this hard from a launch, or even using the right gear @ a roll.

I'm pretty sure you can get a 12 bolt or 9inch for a little over 2K brand new...gotta shop around. Then you could upgrade to some 4:10 gears which would really help also.

    On your ass flashing
    my highbeams

An easy trick to do for better launches is to let out some pressue in the rear tires. Just keep letting air out until it stops slippin. I have an a4 and the tire pressure got to 22 psi before it stopped, so in moderation, but it saved me a quick .2 at the drag since before I was fryin the tires and did not know. Also you can do a free ram air mod on your car if you dont already have one, the kits claim a .2 reduction in time, I am makin one for myself before the next race over here at infineon see what I can get.
