Boy I haven't seen that before

What I did on my wifes car (because it was free) was remove the aluminum and put the steel driveshaft in from 97 and older 4th gens. Tad heavier but at least it won't twist like a prezel People were giving them away years ago because they wanted that (new at the time) GM aluminum one,,,pfffff

Problem now though is they might not be so easy to find anymore. Junkyard maybe???

Shipping up to 15 sounds fair to me... Shipping prices are crazy nowadays, but it's not a very heavy part so it shouldn't be terrible.

The steel from the older gens fits the same as the newer aluminum one? Same size and all?

Get yourself a real DS when you get the money and a DS loop if you don't have one already! Can't see the pic you posted.

Like Jeff, I'm also running the PST DS.
    It's on jackstands.

No loop now... My 3rd kid is due next week, so I HIGHLY doubt ill be buying new toys for myself anytime soon. Mentioning the fact that I shredded the hell out of the driveshaft I had to the wife didnt sit well as it was haha. At some point I'd prefer to upgrade the shaft and get a new rear. Someday.....

80 bucks is a lot cheaper then the DS coming through the floorboard and tearing up everything in its way...including maybe even you.

Just my advice of course. Certainly understand the money situation though.

This is true! That driveshaft totally got ripped to shreds... Good thing I didn't have an even higher torque car...

Well, if it's too much trouble to find one, then I agree with Jeff and 35th, better to spend the money for a real driveshaft if you really plan to hammer the car like that.

I only used the factory steel shafts because they were given to me when swapped for the stronger ones Jeff and 35th mentioned. So they were laying around in the stash. I never trusted those factory aluminum driveshafts.

Or have it dig into the ground while at speed and pogo stick the car.....which usually destroys the rearend in the process.

Jeff - if you want to measure yours, I'll measure mine.

Mite want to check than trans tail and rear end also, just cause the shaft took most of the damage doesn't mean there isn't damage on the other ends. Hope it's just the DS, good luck with it and hope your bak on the road soon.

Nice... now we have turned this thread into a "who has the longer and stronger shaft contest".

I'll measure mine tomorrow when we arrive home. Full length of the aluminum shaft unless you want to use another dimension.

Best to do it at home, in public isn't a good idea

This thread is becoming pretty hilarious. I'd measure my shaft for you guys too, but mine's in pieces. Yes, my pride is broken.

Is that where secret shaft measuring takes place?
