    BLK TA modded 12.2@113mph

    3:73 gears.questions on 3 upgrades

My 99 TA is running 13.5 to 13.65 at about 104 to 105 mph right now bone stock

What will it do for me on time and mph It's an auto with 3:23 gears right now,.

I am never going to do more than 10 to 20 passes a year but I love going 2 or 3 times a year but this is more of a daily driver so should I also put in a stall I was thinking TCI3200 ,3:73 gears a lid and maybe a frost tune like I see people doing on here or kill the stall and put a mild cam or just grears and a lid

I want to feel a big enough difference but not kill my wallet. I love my wallet when it has a little green$ in it lol

    Sorry for the long thread

Lid, gears and stall. If you do a cam you will need a stall to get it to launch. IMO a tune is not worth the $$$ until you do at least headers.

After a stall and gears you need a tune for sure

Why is that? You can have your speedo changed without a tune and as far as I know there is nothing to adjust when you stall your car.

I think you could get by with anything under 3000 but anything higher then that you'd want one for sure.

I thought when someone does gears you gotta tune the car for the speedo and the computer to tell the trany when to shift.

Getting a stall for and a4 would be one of the best mods for your car if it's a bolt on car just ask 1986camarojoe his 99 z with bolt ons with that 3400 stall threw you back into the seat. IMO I'd go for the stall also

After putting the 373s in my car without a tune id hit the rev limiter at WOT, pretty sure the shift points need adjustment

A tune will benefit a stock car,,,especially the automatics. Did mine.
Besides, with the mods you plan, like gears and such, I wouldn't hesitate for a tune.
A mail order from Frost would do the trick and it's cheap enough to not even bother questioning why not.......

A stall generally requires a tune. The computer will sense the transmission slipping and set a misfire code. At the very least the misfire sensitivity will need to be turned down a bit,,,some even turn it off completely if it continues to give codes.
Sometimes shift points need to be adjusted a bit as well when a converter is installed. I didn't find this necessary with mine, but some do.

With a gear change,,,,the speedo will need calibrated at the very least.

I would do a converter before I bothered with a gear,,,,especially before spending any money on that 7.5.
With a good converter you shouldn't have to worry about daily driving. My mileage was only affected 2 mpg around town, and highway isn't affected at all of course, as the converter locks just like the stocker.

My vote would be for a converter, some headers if not already on there, and a mail order tune from Frost.

    Agreed.

Converter before gears anyday. Putting any money into that 10 bolt is throwing your money away IMO. Headers/exhaust and a tune, you just knocked off a very nice chunk of E.T.

yes the converter will throw you back in your seat just dont go to big or you will need a tune and an auxiliary cooler for the torque cooler . If you just want a sicker deeper sounding exhaust with simmilar gains get some long tube headers and bam you just woke up your cars exhaust and it sounds sick with similar gains with the lid and any other bolt ons you baught it just makes the horsepower go up with every other mod you do also fyi
