Very cool. It is an addictive thing once you get started. Right out of the box, our cars will run sixty foot times just above 2.0 seconds on street tires and knock out the quarter mile in less than 13.5 seconds at over 100 mph. How was the track prep - were they putting down any VHT or rosin at the line? Also, how was the air temp and humidity? Hot air kills our car at the track. It'll still launch good but just doesn't have it at the top end.

No VHT, they turned the air port run way into an 1/8th mile drag strip. It was 86 degrees and 62% humidity. I can pull all the temps off my data logger. I couldn't get my water temp below 194 degrees. I need to get a 160 degree thermostat.

No VHT on an airport runway and first time out. Can't really complain for just learning the tree.

Appears to run like a very stock TA with probably what sounds like a 2.73 rearend if I had to guess. You got away fairly clean.

Your 1/8 mile times are somewhere in the low 14's.

I'm sure there is room for tinkering and improvement (we always think there is ). Cooler temps would help I'm sure. Just a guess but that temp and humidity would probably report back a 3,000 DA or so? Not optimum conditions but a very good baseline to work with.

Like Jeff said,,,it's fun and addicting.

Temperature was my first concern. So I ordered a 160 degree thermostat and SLP Remote Fan Switch. I am running the stock gear in the rear end. I am looking at a 3.73 gear simply because it is my daily driver half the year. I only have some bold on's (SLP Air Lid and Ram Air Mod, LTH's ORY and SLP LM2 and Frost Tuned). Do I need a re-tune if I change out the gear & tstat?

Yep, you'll need to reflash for the speedo correction, and it would also help that you have your fans programmed to run along with that thermostat.

^^ This. I run 3.73's in our car and am very happy with them.

Did you have to change your carrier with the 3.73 gear? If so, I'm not sure what that means.

I upgraded my whole rear axle to a Moser unit. With GM axles, there are different series carriers that only accomodate certain gear ratios. This is due to the thickness of the ring gear. As the stock WS6 ratio is 3.23 for auto and 3.42 for stick, you can change out the gears without having to swap the carrier.

So with a stock A4 and a 2.73 stock gear, I can swap to a 3.42 or 3.73 without having to change the carrier?

My bad, I thought you had a WS6. I believe you will need to change your carrier. Only other option is to install a spacer -- not the best solution but it does work.

You can get by without changing the carrier,,,just use a thick 3.73 made for a 2 series carrier,,,,they are a little more expensive but it eliminates the need for the spacer if you prefer.

^^ Or you can do this. Wasn't aware that they made them for our cars.

Well I know they used to years back when I did a few gear swaps But I hardly work on a 7.5" 10 bolt anymore. Hang on I'll check.

Yep, just checked a supplier. Thick 3.73 gears for a 3.08 and down carrier are actually cheaper than your standard 3.73 gear set. $266 vs $301

Were you spinning the tires? or bogging the engine?

I would do a converter first. Get that 60 ft down.

I was spinning the tires with out loading the torque converter up. It was a runway, not an actual track so no VHT. Quickest 60ft. time was 2.271 with street tires. If I loaded up the torque converter I spun half the 1/8th.
