    Lightbulb ZO6 rims and tires

How's it going LS1 heads, I need some advice. I am finally going to replace my stock 2000 Z-28 rims because the tires are bald, and starts to shake over 60mph. Anyways, I am planning on buying these 18 in ZO6 rims all around with 275/35/18 Front wheel Tires (Toyo), 295/35/18 Rear Wheel Tires (Toyo), but my brother in law said that they are too wide and might not fit and/or affect performance with turning. I have stock springs and drive the Maro on occasion. I have always wanted wide tires in the back, but do not want to overdue it and affect performance. What do you guys think, are they way too wide?

    Thanks for your time.

how wide are the rims? thats very important

275 will be fine up front, although it is bigger than the stock 245...but you prob shouldn't go over 275....honestly id go a little smaller.

295 will fit on the back, as long as its a 10.5" rim, any smaller and its no bueno. you may have to caress the wheel wells a little bit, but you shouldn't have much trouble unless you bottom out.

and just a word of advice, i have 295s on a 10.5" rim on the back, and to get the rims on and off, i have to lift the car by the axle to keep the suspension loaded. lifting by the body doesn't work, the rims "sit" on the bump stops and the axle wont hang....knowing that would have saved me a lot of headache

If i were you I would run the exact set up you stated. 275s in the front are perfect and the 295s should fit without issue since you are not lowered. I run 275s up and and 315s in the rear on my car.

Wheels are my specialty. Probably because when I got my SS I was changing wheels like shoes hah.

Thanks for all the feedback guys, but unfortunatley he sold the rims before I could get to them. I found these polished C6's (fronts: 18X8.5, rears: 19X10) in good condition without tires going for $550. I was going for the chrome appearance, but the polished C6's look good in the picture (have to see them in person). Anyone have feedback on polished C6's? Also, if I end up grabbing these rims I would probably go for the 275s up front and 315 rear. Thanks y'all.

If these are OEM vette wheels you are going to need a spacer for the rear.

Yea you will need spacers for the rear wheels and longer wheel studs I believe.

I would just go with OEWheels setup. I've had mine for about a year and love 'em. I went 18x9.5 front, 18x10.5 rear, 275 front, 295 rear. I did need to massage the wheel well for the rears in a couple spots, no issues up front.

I ended up getting a set of chrome C5's in ok condition, rear 18x9.5 and front 17x8.5. The seller told me they were 19 rears and 18 fronts, but when I inspected them they were not that size so I got a cheaper price, but really wanted 19s rear. So now I am going to buy tires and need some advice. I see that a lot of people are running 275 front and 295 rear. Would anything bigger than 295 be overkill for the rears? Thanks for the advice.

You really need a 18x10 to run 295s in the rear.

search around, every tire brand is different, you may find a "narrow" 295 that can fit. 285 is a hard size to come by

These past couple of weeks have been rim insane, but I found the perfect set of rims after I bought the C5's. I found a set of 2007 OEM chrome C6's 19x10 rears and 18x8.5 fronts and I just sold the C5's that I just bought! So now it's time for tires! Any advice on tire brands and sizes? I only drive the Z sometimes on the weekend, but plan to bring it to the tracks once in a blue moon. I got a tight budget so I don't plan on spending way too much for tires. Thanks everyone.

I've been reading along and in the market myself for a new set of chrome. I like the c5 z06 wheels and wanted to go to a 18" wheel, 18x9.5 all the way around is what I was thinking. Anyone have any input on this or advice? Thanks!

Shouldn't have any problems with that set up. Look into OEWheelsLLC. They may good replicas for a decent price and have various set ups available. If it were me though, I would do 18x9.5 F and 18x10.5 R. I like a fatter tire in the rear.
