    Will my new wheels fit?

    I just bought new rims and tires for my 02 SS. The problem is i was wondering if my new wheels and tires will fit on my car. A friend mentioned that i might need spacers. I'm not too familiar with with rims and such.. the new tire size is 275/35/18. the wheels are 9.5 also. do i need to buy spacers? HELP!!

    you won't need spacers. 9.5" is barely wider than the 9" stock ss rims. My friend runs 275/35/18 and they work great for him.

    I'm no expert, but wouldn't the wheel spacing be a deciding factor?

    I think it depends on the back spacing of your rims. If I remeber correctly, you want to be in the +35 to +55 mm back spacing range. Someone with better memory or that knows for sure can correct me if I am wrong. If you don't have enough back spacing then you will need a spacer to move the inner sidewall of your tires away from the fender wells.

    It also might be helpful to know which rims you have.

    yes, you would have to make sure that the offset is not greater/less than the stock offset which I believe is 55mm. if so you might have rubbing on the inner fender area. doublre check that though...

    also, the stock factory rims were either:
    16*8 (z28, Trans Am, Formula)
    17*9 (SS, WS6, Firehawk)

    17*9.5 is not a stock rim...

    `98 Formula M6 HdTp

    Factory
    16x8 = 56mm offset
    17x9 = 50mm offset
    Anything in between 35mm to 56mm will work
    The smaller the # the farther out from the inner wheelwell the rim will be.

    Dude I find that pretty funny but I ask alot of basic questions also and these guys are patient and really cool. You could always ask the people where you bought them if they will fit whatever year car you have if you are still concerned but these guys know their stuff and pointed me in the right direction when I bought my wheels a couple weeks back. Good luck.

    well rears were where all the issues were.
    the fronts, only needed a 7/32" spacer and plug + play... more room in front than rear.
    that was the whole point of the setup (cornering)
    soon, i'll also have 18x11 on all corners for street.

    i wouldn't go wider than the 285s... unless you go w/ a wider wheel.
    I'd get as wide front tires and be able to rotate.
