Widest rear tires and best price?

So, foolishness got ahold of me today and I burned the tread on my rear tires to almost nothing. Didnt know it could happen that quick, but hey. Now I do. I have to replace them and I was wondering what you guys thought would be good to slap on there. I'd like to go wider than my deceased 245/50R16 Kumho Escta ASTs. Would drag radials be a better choice? Any suggestions on brand and the cheapest place to get them?

    Thanks for your time,

    Chris

by your tire specs you have 16x8's from the factory i believe and the widest you can go would be at most a 255, but i heard that is not to safe if u put it on an 8 inch wheel. I'd leave it a 245 until you get wider rims, i've seen chrome zr1s 17x9=275's all around sell for 400. shop around at sears, discount, ntb, this weekend they should be pretty cheap start with sears
