    Wheel width question

I tried searching but I couldn't find what I was looking for. What is the widest wheel/tire you can fit in the rear without modification? The reason I ask is I am looking at these ZR1 wheels that are 19x10" in the front with 40 offset in the front and 20x12" in the rear with 59 offset. I was thinking of doing 295s up front with 315s out back if possible without modification. But at the same time I might do 315s up front and 335s out back and just get a mini-tub. Also, does anyone know what is the widest tire you can put on a 12" rim?

That will not fit without modification, especially with 315s. The offset has everything to do with it. I have an 18x11 wrapped with 315 in the rear. I am lowered and it is pretty dang tight.

im running 295s on my 18's on my 02 Z, lowered, kinda rubs a little. My 00 ss i have 315s on some 17s and the rub, ether way look into rolling your rear fenders if you want wider tires and plan on sqwatting it alot.

Alright thanks, I guess I'll just get mini-tub kit then and put 335s or bigger out the back.

Those are wide rims!! Honestly. A tire wider than 275 handeling is bad.
I had 285s in the front it was horrible IMO. But it's your car.

With that size in the back. 335s should fit perfect on that rims. But u need modification for sure

Vipers come with the size rim & tire you want. And they fit pretty good.

Post pics when you get it done. Should look badazz!!

Yeah when I do it, I definitely will post pictures up. At the moment I have no idea when I am going to do it as I am going to do a mini-tub kit. I need to get a quote on how much a job like that would be.

A well done mini tub will cost well over those wheels

Is there an alternative? Beating the heck out of my wheel well? I'd rather not do that.

Get a different set of wheels. 19/20 are pretty dang big wheels for our cars.

I have 20s on my car right now, they look good too. They are the boss 338s. I just like those zr1 wheels a tad better. I think I may still do it just at a later time. For the time being what is the biggest tire I can put on the rear with 20x10 with a 30ish offset with little or no modification?

With that offset, just beating in your fenders isn't even an option unless you use spacers. There really isn't any way around it surefire major modification tio the wheel wells, bfh or minitub

Also want tio add that even after a minitub you also have to worry about clearance with your lcas, at which point you may have to look into offset lcas

Oh, I didn't know that. Yeah I won't be using those wheels for what I want to do then. Would it be possible to put 335s on 20x10 wheels with a 30ish offset, without much modification? Is there another way to make the wheel well slightly bigger without beating it with a hammer, if modification is needed? For some reason, I just don't feel like that is a good idea, that and it doesn't look professional and that would bother me. Unless of course there is a way to smooth it out.

I'm not sure if its your car on here that I have seen on here with those but I will say those can be pulled of pretty well. I think the lip really helps. Not sure the ZR1 wheels will look just as good but thats my opinion. The offset of 30 really kills these wheels working out well.

Not sure if I follow you. Are you saying that with the offset of 30 it helps bigger tires fit in the wheel well?

335s are too big for a 10" wheel, minimum you would want for that size tire is an 11.5, maybe 11 depending on the tire and thats cutting it close

Okay, then I guess what I am trying to figure out is, what is the biggest tire that can fit on a 10" wheel?

Biggest tire you can safely run on a 10" is a 295. I'm saying that the offset of 30 really hurts these wheels as being an option for your car.
