What back spacing on front wheels with 275-40-17 tires.

I have 10" wide wheels on the rear of my TA with 275-40-17s. I ordered the wheels about three years ago,but on the front I have 8" wheels, but I want to put 10"s on the front. I ordered 275-40s for the front but on the 8" wheels, and it didn't like the look ,the tires seemed to be too wide for the wheels,so I bought a set of smaller tires.What backspacing are you guys running on the front with the 10" wheels?The wheels I have are Smoothies. I like them and want to do the tens on the front. but I don't want the 4wheel drive look. Also how can I preserve the 275 -40's that I have sitting in storage outside. I don't want to let them go bad before I have a chance to use them.

if it fits in the back without getting too close to the calipers, it'll fit in the front... just put one of the rear wheels in the front for caliper clearance.
I use 11s in the front, and a friend uses 12s on all corners.
