    tire width and height

i would like to get some 265 or 255 wide tires for the back of my camaro. the problem is i want them to be the same height as the tires i have now which are 245/50 ZR16. does anyone know how to fill in the blank 265/(?) ZR16..... or 255/(?) ZR16?

google tire size calculator, theres a result with like, 1010tire in the name, something like that. its really good

The thing to remember is that with a 245/50, that means your height is 50% of your width, 245. so if you are upping the width to a 265, you need to lower the percentage to probably 40% to keep the same hieght. so 265/40. But that first number, 245/255/265, etc, is the distance in mm. a 265 is only 20mm wider than a 245, so even if you stuck with a 265/50, your height would only increase 10mm.

in 16", there just isn't any other option. you can go to the 255/50-16 and get the extra 10mm (less than 1/2") wider tire. what you should do is look for the same size tire that offers the most tread width. the first number (245) is from sidewall to sidewall. it's not the actual tread width.
