tire size

I have the stock 17"x9" rims on my camaro with 275 40 r17 tires on it, but i was wondering if a
295 40 r17 or a 305 40 r17 would fit on that rim and what company makes them.

yea the 295s will fit, i think the 305s will too but i would go with a 10" rim for those... you can just get a nice set of tires in 275 and play it safe

I went with a 285/40-17 all the way around on the stock 17X9's. Made by Firestone Firehawk Wideovals.

Actually I was happy with the stock size 275's,,,,but I wanted a little extra sidewall sticking out for rim protection. That stupid little rim saver they mold into the 275's doesn't do a damn thing. I want some real sidewall

Not sure. I never looked into the 295's because the tire is getting a little taller, making a speedo recalibration necessary in my case.
Plus 295's may not have fit on the front, and for me I wanted to keep all 4 the same size to avoid ABS and TCS problems, and to be able to rotate when needed.

just did 275/40-18's all the way around with c5 z06 wheels. Once I lower it it'll look tough.

Some fit better than others. I have seen 295 DRs fit really nice on that size rim, but some brands fir nicer than others. I believe it was the nittos that fit.
