    Yes.
    Speedometer will be off though.

The 245's are shorter by roughly an inch and a half.

    Decent amount.
    Let me check....

This isn't exact for the car you are refering to, but you will get an idea.
Speedo shows 46MPH at 2000RPM's in 4th gear with the 235/55/16.

On the 245/45/16's, the speedo will show 46MPH but you will probably be closer to 42MPH.

What kinda all season tires would u suggest for this car? V6 Firebird, stock tires are Goodyear I believe, he wants all season tires for winter driving. Tirerack shows not a whole lot in that dept for his tire size, seems like the 245 45 tires are all high perf summer tires though..........

I have had good luck with RoadHuggers and the Goodyear GT-HR's on my daily driver.
Past that though, I am always looking at performance tires.

I'd suggest going for a size like 245/50/16's. They're about an inch taller than the 245/45/16's and will keep the tire from looking too small for the car. In my opinions I'd think the 235/55/16's would look to tall for that car. The 245/50/16's would fill out nicely and look good especially if the car was lowered. Most tire companies make a decent tire in this size. I'll PM you the site I always use for referencing since they're not a sponsor.
