Tire poll and suggestions
Allright it's time for new tires so I can install these brand new TT2's on my
Z-28. I'm going to need two 315-35/17's and two 275-40/17's. I don't want a drag radial but I can't find a normal street tire that's less than $200.00 a piece. Any recomendations?
I want good treadwear
Wet and dry traction
Excellent handling and decent traction from a stand still

I like those but I ain't paying a grand for a set of tires, I'm leaning more torwards the Nitto's but I'm curious as to how they do on a road course and handling.

I have Nitto 555's (not drag radials) they handle great and have lasted a long time, however I paid 230 a tire but for 18x9.5's not sure how much they would be for your size.

The only thing I can get in a Nitto is the 555 Drag Radials, the 315's are $175.00 a piece and the 275's are $165.00 a piece. I might go with those but I just got a price on some BFG G-force KDW's mounted and balanced for $863.96. Looks like the BFG's are the #1 choice so far, thanks

triple-black- 2000 CamaroSS convertible
There's always the possibility of running
front: Nitto 555RII 275/40-17 (autox-tire, looks like drag-radial, but stiffer sidewall)
rear: Nitto 555R 315/35-17 (drag-radial)Eugenio_SS
almost stock triple-black 2000 SS convertible with 17x11s on all 4 w/ 315s at the track or on the street with 18x10.5s on all 4 w/ 315s: (1), (2)

www.tirerack.com
by far the best site for tire research. when i was gonna replace my stock goodyear f1's for an all season tire the site helped a ton. i was gonna get the pirelli p-zero's for about $150 a pop but found they were only rated #2 in the ultra high performance all season category. the #1 choice were avon tech m550's. avons are british tires and as such i'd never heard of them before, but since they were only about $125 each i decided to give them a shot. 2000 miles later and i couldnt be happier! they grip superbly, even in the rain. i cant wait till it starts snowing here so i can finally test them out in that.

Michelin Pilot Sports
If you can afford them there is NO subsitute for Michelin Pilot Sports!!!! Other than that I would run the BFG's if I couldn't afford the Michelins!
Don't be afraid of the bottle!!! Be afraid of your tune!!!

Why do you look at the BFG kd's? You said you wanted wet and dry. Get the kdw's. Great looking and performing tire. I paid $170 a piece from Discount Tire Direct. Free shipping too.

Black- 1999 Pontiac Firebird
Sumitomos at $107 each for 315's and $88 for 275's at tirerack. Thats what I run, and for the price, there the best bang for the buck. You can almost buy two sets of Sumi's for the price of one set of BFG's. I run 315's on all 4 corners and love them. A very good general purpose street tire, they can handle the twisties quite well too, better than straight traction. They rated better than Kumho's for performance. And they are great against hydroplaning and are an extremely stable tire at 150mph. -Tim

If you want less expensive you might want to consider:
Kuhmo Ecsta or Pirelli Pnero Zero.
I think that's the way I'll go for my next tires. I have Eagle F1's now2000 Trans Am Firehawk #0226

Pewter metallic- 2000 Camaro SS
I have had great success with the BFG KDWs, I know the KDs are also very good tires. I have also had great success with Nittos, no complaints on either brand. The Sumitomos aren't bad, great for what you pay for them.

good tire
i had real good luck with my bridgestone potenza re910 stock size.
really good in the rain and dry not snow.
killer in the corners has a warranty that the rim will fold before befor the tire comes off.
my car is a 6 speed and i rather have the tire spin then have my clutch slip there not cheep. I've had them on the car for 3 years and not been nice to them.

Al lot of you guys are recommending tires that don't come in 315's.

Cooper Zeon XS2 is a decent cheap tire. I run 275/40-17 all the way around but I think they make 315s.

i have sumitomo's 315's and they have lasted over a year. but honestly if i get on it they just spin. im satisfied with the tire as a driver and if you want a tire for traction you should get some drag radials for your stock wheels and then change em out when you need too. every tire has some good points and bad points you should figure out how you want to run your car. when my tires waer out they will be replaced with the same ones
