Stupid questions about replacing stock wheels

    Hey all,
I know these are some newb question but I am not getting much luck with the search engine so here goes...

I am replacing my stock non-chrome SS wheels later this week with a set of Z06 wheels and I was wondering what size wheels do I need to keep using my stock tires (275/40/ZR17)?? I know I obviously need 17" wheels but I was curious about the width.

Also, on a side note, will reproduction Z06 wheels make my car noticably slower?? Of course they are heavier so there will be some difference but I wasn't sure if it would be enough to tell unless I was at the track or something.

    Thanks!

    Tommy

9 or 9.5" will work with 275's. I think 10" would be stretching the tires a bit much. Don't go under 9 though.

275 will not be stretched on 10" wheels.
they are intended to be installed on 9"-11" wide-wheels, while optimally mounted on 9.5"

when i went from 245/50-16 to 275/40-17, i lost about .05 in the 1/4 mile. you won't be able to tell the difference, unless the wheels are ungodly heavy.

I don't think they look right on anything over 9.5". They are safe and all, but I like keeping them looking more beefy (tread width covering wheel) then having the sidewalls pulled to fit. I don't know why any one would waste money putting a 275 on a 11" wheel when they are begging for the sweet 315's. The 275's I have are 9.5" tread width and there are others with more tread width that would look good on 10" I guess, so yeah my bad. 10" work too depending on tire selection.
