    stickiest 285 40r-17 out there

I plan on getting my 9.5in c5z06s later next month and I'd like to use a 285 tire instead of the convential 275 simply because I want the extra vertical and lateral bulge.

My question is what's the stickiest 285 17in one out there? I really love my current drag radials but I can't find any streetable drag radials for this tire size. From what I can find the Kumho ecsta XS has the lowest tread ware rating from all the tires in this size, is this true or am I overlooking a tire(s)?

Also I'm considering going to a 295, is that unsafe on a 9.5in rim?

not sure which ones are the stickiest out there, but ive had great experiences with the goodyear eagle f1 gsd3 tires, they are not a drag radial but a street tire and they were the best tires ive had yet on the track and on the street, you can check reveiws on www.tirerack.com.

yeh the next closest size is a 295, which is why i was wondering if it's safe to put a 295 on a 9.5in rim. I don't wanna spend over 200 for each of the rear tires, but if those mickey's are my only option I guess i'll have to bite the bullet

NT05R's and they look better than ET streets in my opinion. The BFG dragradials are supposed to be real sticky too

why not get 18s all the way around. you could do 18x9.5 front and 18x10.5 rear. the NT05s come in a 295/35/18

a few reasons, 1. don't wanna pay for 18in rubber 2. jumping from a 16 to 18in rim will only make me even unhappier than I already am at the strip. 3. a 295 on a 10.5 18 in rim will not have the same bulge effect that it would on 9.5 17 in rim.

I am lowered but I think 18s are a little much for camaro. I might reconsider though. anyone got pics of black 18 c5z06s?

well if you are going the 17" route I would get ZR1s or something. then you can get them in a 17x11 as well as a much deeper lip. I dont think the C5Z06 wheels will look all that great in that size all the way around, especially in black. just my opinion tho.

I think i'm gonna get 18-10.5 in the back and 17-9.5 in the front. anyone have an idea of what will happen to my 1/4 times by going from 16s to 18s in the rear?

    Yes, you'll get slower.

Yeah the NT05Rs look hot but they make the MTs in another tread pattern that looks great too.
