    SSR's Were Delivered Today

For those who are interested, I got the SSR GT2-H wheels in today. They are 18 x 9.5 with a +50 mm offset.
I ordered them with Sumitomo HTRZ II in 275/35/18.

To be honest, I'm not too thrilled about them yet. I'm sure they'll grow on me though.

I definitely need to lower it about 1.5 inches. I'm going with SA Konis, but not set on which lowering springs yet.

Hey Thanks! I agree. Once I get it lowered, I think I'll like them a lot more.

Wow, that makes them quite affordable. I see on SSR's website they offer them in 17" sizes as well, however, i went on tire-rack and they don't list them for a 97 Firebird Formula, nor a 2000 Camaro. Phone-order only?

Sorry. I should have provided more clarification in my last post.

These wheels are listed under a 2000 Corvette. They fit a 2000 SS perfectly, except for the hub. The difference in hub diameter between the Corvette and Camaro is .15mm, that's right, only .15mm (according to The Tire Rack). It's so minor that it still fits on a Camaro hub, but it fits tight.

Instead of taking the chance of it seizing onto the hub I ran a dremel on the hub opening of the wheel then finished/polished it with fine sand paper, then "brushed" on a thin coat of silver touch up paint.

I can't stress enough how little you have to remove. To be honest I think just using sandpaper would have sufficed. It's pretty much the thickness of the paint that needs to be removed for a better fit.

    Hope this helps.

Thats crazy, why wouldn't SSR just machine that extra bit out and make the wheel just that more universal? Weird. We ran into a similar problem with Jeep Wrangler/Ford Ranger wheels, hub center sizes were different. But .15mm is managable, lol.

Is there any sort of rubbing issues with these wheels in that size? Also, tire rack is listing these as closeout, call me dumb if you must, but doesn't that mean they aren't going to carry them anymore?

That is correct. They are a close out. TTR will not carry them anymore. These are $400.00 wheels for $124.00! I ordered a spare to keep on hand.

As I mentioned in my original post, they are a +50mm offset. They fit fine (2000 SS). If you order them be sure to ask for a "free" thin wall, lug nut socket to install them. FYI, they do not come with center caps so you need to ask for them. They are $20.00 each.

To answer your question about SSR not making it universal, Corvette wheels are hub-centric vs. lug-centric. I guess a .15mm difference would cause vibration issues.

They look good. You probably think they look small because of the wheel gap. Once you drop it, it will look good with less wheel gap.
