    Snow Tires

Unfortunately I have to drive the V in the harsh Indiana weather. Obviously RWD with the power is going to be tricky but I'm thinking with some snow tires I'll be able to make it through the snow alright. Any thoughts on these snow tires? (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....V&autoModClar=) I have used Blizzaks in the past and have absolutely loved them. The reason I'm thinking of going with the Michelins is because they are a little cheaper, come with a rebate, and have a better consumer rating.

i really wish i could do that but i need a vehicle that's dependable. I go to school 200 miles from home and make that trip a few times a semester. I also make a 130 mile trip often to the GFs school every so often. i dont wanna get caught in the middle of no where with a dead vehicle.

Those are pretty wide for a snow tire, do they make a -1 or so for it ? like a 235/50 ? see what I'm sayin ?

so you feel they will be less effective because of the width?

the only problem i had last winter with my firebrid was my driveway.... its probably a 500 yd 30 degree unhill gravel with no oportunity to get a true running start. i drug alooooot!!! so i get the monte or the silverado during the winter...but snow and ice in indiana sucks...
if anything check out the AutoRV/autotrader/craigslist...they have had a few good looking SUVs 4x4s that look nice for cheap...i was considering on a 94 Tahoe...160,000 miles but for $3500 it looked clean. lol my other choice would be a '91 5.0 Fox body. LMAO

Yep, tests show thinner is better for snow.

I just don't have the money for that and I don't need a 3rd car. I wish I could but that's just not gonna happen.

i have the exact opposite problem my driveway is on a 30 degree down hill slope and it always seems to be the first thing to ice over. i just resort to parking in the culda sack but this will be my first winter with the ss and i know its gonna suck. OTOH i have a 98 civic that handles like a champ in the bad weather

I wouldn't worry about the width you chose.. I ran 255/40/17's on my Camaro last winter (Blizzak).. Just put some weight in the back, I had 3 cinder blocks in my t-top holder and I was fine
