You need to make sure the front and back tire OD is the same or you'll trigger an ABS Inop light.
    EXAMPLE
My front and rear wheels are 18x8.5 and 18x9.5. Tires are 245/40/18 and 275/35/18 respectively. The Overall Diameter of the both tires are within .100 of an inch.

I run the same size rears as you are going to use and on a 9" front rim use a 265/35/18

    I would suggest using a tire size calculator....theres a one on 1010tires.com

I just google, tire size calculator, and its one of the first results.

I get whatever size has about the same sidewall height...if its different it may look funny.

so on a 295/35 outback, youll prob want a 45 up front

Hey, thanks you guys for all the info. That tire calculator came in handy. So wit the 40 the overall diameter is 26.12 and 26.03, sidewall height 4.06 and 4.01 circumference 82.05 and 81.77 seems close enough but not sure. And should i go with bfg kdw 2 or nitto invo tires, im caught in between the two.

    Thumbs up

You'll be fine with 255/40/18s front, and 295/35/18s rear.
