    Nitto 555DR

I have been looking at the Nitto NT555R. Does any body have any thoughts on these tires, are they sticky. Also where is the cheapest place to get them???

I just ordered some 315/35/17's and 275/40/17's from tiredirect.com. I should be getting them tomorrow so I don't know how I like them, but from what I've heard they're very good tires.

Also make sure you call up tiredirect if you're going to order, they knocked $20 off my price for me.

You are going to be running a DR on the front??

I use the Nitto DR for street use. Not sticky enough for me at the track.

Discounttire is probably the cheapest place to get them. They have a 100 treadware rating, sticky enough for a bolt on car, but thats about it.

no it's not a DR on the front, it's this tire here :

    http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...70&rd=17&ar=40

The guy I talked to said this would be better than the falkens I was looking at, and would perform better and the wear on the tires would be more even because they had the same tread pattern.

I didn't want them originally because they were like $40 more per tire so he said he would knock off $20 from the total price

is 100 good? I'm hoping I'll like these tires and I'll be able to use them even after H/C.

What are your mods ? I have had my Nittos for about a year now and love them. I have full bolt ons and a 75 shot and they hold the road very well. So if your not pushing to much power they will hold the road and the track with little traction issues, you will like them overall !

100 means real soft. The ones you linked are 300 treadware rating which is pretty typical for "street" tires for our vehicles. My KDW NTs are 300 rating. The 100 rating for the Nitto 555R means its a softer compound and will hook better but not last as long as a tire with a 300 rating.

With h/c, Nittos won't get you sufficient traction for the track.

Well it's mainly going to be a street car, so I'm not going to be taking it to the track much - if it all.

I have them and love the tires. I've driven the car one time in heavy rain and they did okay as long as I didn't get on it (as if i would in weather like that).

Ive had terrible luck with the nittos, there ok on the street, but at the track they just dont hook as well as you hope, you have to get them really hot before they do anything. If your buying a DR for the track go with BFG or M/T.
