BRIGHT RALLY RED- 2002 CAMARO Z28RS
Larger Wheel/tire Question
Readers:
I have a 2002 Camaro Z28 with an automatic transmission and what I'm pretty sure are 2.73 gears. Right now, I have stock, 16", chromed, GM five-spoke wheels on the car, but I'm looking to enhance the car's cornering capabilities.
Are there any significant benefits to adding either 17"- or 18"-wheels, other than boosting the car's asthetic value? Also, will adding either 17"- or 18"-wheels adversely affect my straight-line acceleration and lower my 0-60 times? Will the larger wheels enhance or ruin the car's braking power?
The wheels I anticipate getting are chromed, C5 Corvette, Y2K five-spoked wheels in this configuration: 17" X 10" in front and 18" X 10" in the back. I'm considering this configuration because the Eibach springs I intend to use lower the car too much in the rear and cause the ride height to appear disproportioned.
What are your thoughts?
Thanks in advance for your prompt replies.
Sincerely,
J@M

larger wheels add weight for the most part. to keep overall diameter the same as stock, you have to shorten the sidewall. this affects straight line launching traction.
Cold Air Intake, Muffler Delete, Vinci High Performance Dual Valve Springs, Hardened Pushrods, Yella Terra 1.85 Rockers, Some Hydropdipped Stuff, Strut Tower Brace, Some SS Badges, boost/vacuum gauge, fuel pressure gauge, some checkered stripes, drilled/slotted rotors, ZL1addons Stealth wickerbill, Ruxifey LED side markers
