Kumho Tires
I have Kumho ECSTA MX 275/40/17's on my SS and they are getting kinda warn so its time for a new set. I never got the chance to drive the car when these tires were brand new and at their best so I was wondering if there was anyone out there that runs these. Should I go back with these tires on my car or are there better options out there.

triple-black- 2000 CamaroSS convertible
what are you looking for in a tire ?
how much mileage ?
how much grip ?
what about driving in wet ?
is driving in snow a necessity ? or maybe not an issue.
what's your type of driving ? street, street/drag, street/autox, etc ?Eugenio_SS

Pewter Metallic- 2002 Firebird Formula
When I got my first set of replacement tires, I replaced the factory Goodyear Eagles with Kumho ECSTAs. They are quieter than the Goodyears, have a really kickass looking tread, and are MUCH better on wet roads than the Goodyears. Overall grip is really good. I've never been partal to Goodyear's car tires. Their truck tires are good, though -- I've always kept them on my '95 Ram.
Kumhos are not a racing tire by any means. At least not the ECSTAs...2002 Firebird Formula

Totally agree. Ecsta SPT are what I run and they have great grip. Street set up and not drag though. I dont do alot of burnouts either (they do cost $$$) but for the overall everyday driver, they're great.

I loved the Kumho Ecsta MX tires I had on my bird. But they don't last long.

I have a set on my car with close to 20k miles on them and they are still lookin good. I love them, they are a night and day difference compared to the eagles that were originally on the car

I have run the Kumhos a lot on different vehicles, but they just dont' seem to last. I went with Cooper Zeons and had great luck out of them. Had over 15K on them and were still half tread and that includes trips to the track and driving on mountain cruises.

i had the 711's on the fronts for a while and liked them so I went with ecsta asx's on the gto this last time around and run asx's on the front of the bird. It's more of an all season tire where the 711's were a dry performance type of tire. For the money it's tough to beat kuhmo's.

There doesn't seem to be much more to add that hasn't already been mentioned. Kumho is a decent tire... I am partial to BFG, myself... but if you are looking for a decent tire on a budget, the Kumho is the way to go.

Bought my car a month ago with Kumhos on it. They were within 1,000 miles of needing replaced (didn't quite need it yet). Had one blow out while doing a U-turn and threw the car up on a curb. Destroyed 2 wheels in the process. I'm personally staying away from Kumho from now on...shouldn't have a blow out when still in usable tread depth...wtf!!!
Running BFG KDWs now...wow!!

Visually they were in good condition. It's easy to blame the manufacturer though and just avoid them...plus it gives me a hostile story to tell.
Better safe than sorry I guess. I had a bad experience, so gonna use someone else now.
