I bought a set of Sumito's from the Rack. Paid $68.00 @ .They are 245/50/16 's HTR . I like um . They were so well made they didn't require any wheel weights. They are smooth & quiet & bite like slicks. Track perfectly straight with no wandering & the steering wheel is dead smooth. I must of got a good batch cause I'll probably buy some more.

Every review I read other than here, has these tires rated really well. Like I said above I like them alot and think they well worth looking into. They are a summer rated tire and don't think they would be much good in the snow (Duh!) My car is parked all winter long anyway.

Depends on the type of surface. Concrete , like drag slicks.
On smooth asphalt , normal street tire . All with 30psi for smooth running. Much better bite with 35psi on all surfaces. A great looking tire that requires NO wheel weights at all .

Most people say they are great tires and better than much more expensive tires (such as Nitto)

I understand it is only money, well if that is the argument, I should buy a vette, or a Viper, hell even a Lambo. I mean after all its only money.

So back to reality, where people actually look for a balance of quality and value when making purchaces. These tires have great dry road ratings, which is about 90% of what I will be driving on.
If you noticed the smilely face at the end .....you would relize that it was a joke !! Chill out ! Sounds like you are set on buying these tires !! Go ahead and get them then!!

I find it strange the wide range of postitive and negative responses.

Some say they are great. Some say they are horrible. I can't understand how they can be both.

I could see Good, Okay, Decent, So-So. as the reviews
    or
Bad, Horrible, NOt a good deal, or crap-ola.

But I don't understand how some say GREAT, and others say crap? Does that make any sense to anyone else?

Not sure...but I would guess that many of those that like them haven't tryed to race on them.

People have different expectations from parts. To some people, these tires meet their expectations, and to other people, these tires simply don't meet their expectations.

I wouldn't run them, but one of my best friends uses them for his daily wheels(he has multiple sets of wheels for his Camaro). They meet his expectations, they don't meet my expectations, its as simple as that.

Well , to answer your question - yes , I have run slicks on my other cars . But these suit my needs just fine for the street & occasional blast. They look good & the price was right . Our local strip sprays the starting line with VHT so traction is no problem there. I have purchased many a set of tires in my day and NEVER have I bought any that required NO wheels weights . This was a first for me & I was very impressed . But to each his own , spend away till your hearts content but just remember just because a tire cost more than another doesn't necessarily mean its a better tire .

Don't get me wrong they wear great, have good tread life, and the wet traction is decent, but you can't hardly launch with them. I have the 315's and on a dry road if I try to launch above 1600, they go up in smoke. I chirped the tires at 105 shifting into fourth gear. That's kinda crappy in my opinion
