275 40 17 goodyear eagle matching set of 4 tires 85% tread must see

Are these tires any good in wet conditions?
Goodyear eagle, the add doesn't say exactly what they are but I'm sure someone can tell from the tread pattern.

I am not aware of anyone running them. FWIW, they appear to have significant tread ports for water to escape from the contact patch. I would check out the info and reviews on Tire Rack's website for a comparison.

Ya I see they have channels for water to escape but I'm wondering how hard the tread compound is... I've had tires before that looked like they'd be a decent rain tire but sucked. I'll check the reviews on tirerack, forgot about that.. thanks

In that case probably the most important thing you need to know when buying used tires is how old they are. Have the seller send you a photo showing the DOT date code. If the tires are more than 4 years old expect the rubber to be getting hard and less responsive. It has a huge effect on how they ride and how they grip in all conditions.

Eagle GS-C has been out of production for years now. I believe it has been replaced with the Eagle GS-D3, but I could be wrong. You also have the Eagle F1, F1 Asymmetric(all season), or Nitto NT555.

I switched from Goodyear Eagle GS-D3s to Michelin Pilot Sport All Season Plus (it was a Washington car) and noticed a HUGE difference in wet conditions. Given the age of the Goodyears (summer tires) when I bought the car, my new Michelins even hooked up better on dry pavement. The ride felt the same (when cruising) in wet or dry conditions with the Michelins.

At the time I bought them (winter of 2010), they were the best reviewed all season tire I could find for performance. I'd recommend them.
