    Exploring Options..

ok so. my rims are horrible. road rash...flaking...peeling. and IMO its killing the look of the car.

id like to get 18s. but $ is going towards more necessities now.
so i was wondering if i could repaint the stock WS6 rims.
so it brings me to a few questions for now and future decisions...

    could i get them repolished?
or should i get em powdercoated black and call it an improvement?
(^^^i like black tho unlike most and it would be nice on these durty ass back county roads[or so my friend says])
where would i take em to get em refinished?
or would it be cheaper to get $450-$550 for 17s from OEwheels?

however... i hate to spend on new rims being i want 18s.
BUT! then i heard that 18s slow you down (which makes sense) but what if the diameter is still basically the same? or is it a weight thing?

thanks and sorry for the shit ton of questions...

18s can be more rotational mass and slow you down. Tires for 18s are more expensive than 17s as well, so keep that in mind.

Get some quotes on what it would cost to powdercoat your current wheels and go from there.

the thing is is that powdercoating costs about $100 a wheel and quite frankly i dont like the look of black ws6 wheels. just dunno if its money well spent if you want something else later.

Damn if your payin $100 a wheel without custom masking your getting ripped off. I got a shop across from my work that will coat wheels a single color without custom masking for about $40 a piece.

i was including the cost for sandblasting and powdercoating and thats just a rough estimate. I had thought about doing my CTS-V wheels and that was the price I was told.

LOL, me too. I have never dropped a piece off at this shop pre-blasted. He takes care of it. Some shops put the screws to people, especially if they have high volume & would rather not mess with car parts.

    RAPE!!!!!!!!!

I have a local shop that will do wheels for about $30/per. I would never pay $100/per, that is ridiculous.

I would not do black either, black chrome maybe or a gunmetal/silver look possibly.
