DD tires?

Hi guys. I need to get me some tires soon. I just do DD in my car. No track time. I'm looking for some decent tires nothing high end. My last set were about $120 each balanced with road hazard. I had Fuzion's and Primewells. They were good tires no issues.

Any other suggestions on DD tires? I have to change these brands because I'm not using my tire place anymore. I was looking at Sam's Club. They pretty much sell BF goodrich and michelin tires. Thanks.

I'm pretty happy with my Nitto NT450 Extremes for a good high performance street tire. I believe someone else on here commented on the NT555s and said they liked them.

I'm currently on the Nitto NT555 Extremes. Front 255/40R17 and rear 275/40R17. Cost me about $640.

I got Yokohama S-drives (all 4 stock size on stock rim), suppose to be comparable to a street nitto. I have no complaints so far, I'll spin through 2nd, squawk 3rd, and wear seems to be decent so far after 3 years. But, mine isn't a DD. $700 total I think (at least at the most), so $175 max per tire.

I can't spin them at the track, and on the street I have make an effort to get them to spin. This is with A 2.73 geared A4, btw.

I wouldn't reccomend them if you livedin a cold climate and had to drive in snow, but I see you're in FL, so a summer tire like the 555 will be fine for a year round DD.

Mine doesn't get driven in winter, which is why I went with a summer tire instead of an all season.

Running on BFGoodrich G-Force Sport tires. Just had them put on only a few days ago. Outstanding grip, very quiet in road noise, and a very smooth ride. I'm impressed so far. Hasn't rained yet so I haven't been able to check wet traction, but I'm sure it will be great for being a summer tire. If anything changes in the later miles, I'll be sure to post, but so far, excellent in my book. Roughly $150 a tire from Discount Tire.

I am a fan of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus. So much better than the Sumitomos that were on there before, noticeably better in the rain, 45,000 mile rating, nice smooth ride, great reviews from product testers and individual users. Comparable to the BFGoodrich G-Force Sport...

I've got Firestone Wide-Oval Indy 500's in 275/40-17's that I'm extremely happy with. I was first concerned with hydroplane resistance (central Florida downpours), then ride, then dry handling. They have exceded my expectations.

I have a question. Do the tires need to be "Z"? I mean 245 50Z R16?
Because it restricts me in options at my tire place. they have to special order the ones that have "Z" not matter what size.

Can someone explain me the tire numbers as far as how to tell which one will be taller or smaller and the width? I can't remember. I know R16 is the wheel size.

Does the tires had to have this "Z" rating? or can i get 245 50 R16? Thanks.

Yeah it's speed rating. R is the normal rating for passenger cars, means the tire is good for running at like 110 mph under load. Z is like 150 mph. Z used to be the 'highest' rating, that's why it's 'Z'. But faster sports cars have come along, so they've had to revamp the rating, and now W and Y are faster rated.

So I guess R would really be ok so long as you're not going to be hotrodding over 100mph. I'm not sure what happens if you exceed speed rating, if it's just not guaranteed to be balanced, or if the tire could become damaged...
