Is chrome too blingy?
I was always under the assumption that unless you have 3 piece wheels that are 15" or smaller, that chrome is for people trying to show off.
ie: rappers and import drivers.
But it appears a lot of camaro/firbird owners almost always go for the bling.
Why is this?

so does that mean i have factory BLING cause the chrome 5-spoke Zr1 rims that were ordered for my car is for showing off...? cause i sure as shit dont see it that way. BLING to me is aftermarket crap added to the car, done in a very tasteless manner...
not sure what exactly it is you are asking/commenting about...

Im referring to aftermarket rims, like corvette replicas, or TT2's.

Lets be honest here chrome is not just for bling.
Chrome is the best finish available for wheels. Hell even bicycles use chrome on the rims.
It is the best for maintenance, ease of cleaning off brake dust, toughest finish.

man, go chrome and don't look back. chrome has proven itself over the years/decades. this ghey fad/trend of painted wheels (black or even body color) is just rediculous and such a waste of money. people who get black wheels, IMO, are the ones who really don't know what they want, or what looks good but want something, and they end up falling short BIG TIME...but hey, who am i to judge it's just my opinion, to each their own....

Not chrome. TTII's are polished.
Personally, it is all in good taste. The only reason I got these wheels was to run a wider back tire. Was about the same to get a set of aftermarket with a 17x11 rear (and sell the stockers) as it was to widen the stockers to 11" wide on the rear.
Now...my ProStars are a different story. These are track use. I want them to look good, but I don't care if they aren't perfect.
Neither wheel is chrome. Both are polished aluminum.

I have 18" chrome and no body ever told me they are ghetto. I think the people doing the black rims are trying to do the "in" trendy thing. Chrome is timeless and classic. It's more in the rim design that makes them blingy.

In my opinion chrome is great, but too a point. you can go overboard with it. Any more than an 18 inch possibly 19 depending on the style looks overdone.

It all depends on the design of the rim, sure there are BLING BLING chrome rims but there are many good looking as well.
I dont think that black rims are "trendy thing", if you like this kind of look you go for it.(i do)
