Best tires for the money
Trying to get some wheels and tires here shortly. Probally going 18 x 9.5 all around. I know I am being pretty vague but I just wanna know what tires most of you guys are getting into. Best bang for the buck so to speak.
I don't have a ton of cash I was hoping to stay under $150 a tire. I bought some Michelin Pilots for my truck 275 a piece... Not trying to do that again

Nitto NT555's. They are very grippy tires, great for traction, and they still have a 300 treadwear rating. You can get them in 18" starting at around $130, depending on dimensions.

Sumitomo makes a great cheap high performance tire. I bought some of the HTRZ's on tire rack. I think I payed something like $90 a tire for 315/30/17 and $78 for 255/40/17, I ran the same tires on an old mustang in 225/50/16 for $62 each.

You are right ! I have them on my Z/28 Vert and I think they are amazing . 245/50/16's & they're over 9.2" wide -have a very aggressive tread design and needed NO WHEEL WEIGHTS . They came perfectly balanced from Tire Rack. I have over 20,000 miles on em & they still look almost new and I've never rotated them. The Z corners like it's on rails & pullin almost 1g they have yet to screech a tire in some really tight S curves. All this for like $64.00 @ . Amazing!

you may want to make sure they are still making them.....i just got 2 245/50/16's and one got a nail in the sidewall......they and america's tire both said sumitomo have stopped making them and are not making a replacement tire.
btw if anyone needs a extra one of these i have one with 150 miles on it for sale......40.00 you pay shipping.....sorry about the thead jack

I can sum it up pretty easy for anyone wondering which tires from a tire monkey standpoint. BFGs=performance not equal to price, Falkens=cheap but terrible mileage expectation(despite warranty)but ok grip, Sumitomo=not the best gripping tire but usually cheapest, Michelin=expensive really expensive but great tires, Nitto= no personal experience but have heard good things, General=cheap tires with poor performance, Hancook=terrible tires terrible mileage expectation, Khumo=no personal experience but they're cheap, Pirelli=expensive with terrible traction, Toyo=expensive with good grip(have them on my T/A but proxes4 hydroplane like a bitch), Nexen=never heard of or seen anyone run them. Expensive doesn't mean best but cheap ain't always the way to go. Hope this helps someone but in the end get what works for your bank account and for wat you plan on using your car for.

Electric Blue Pearlcoat- 1995 Trans Am(LS1 Convert
no body really knows of them but I had them on my WS6 wheels and I was shocked at the length of tread life and the wheels hooked up...for price and quality they are awesome...they are called Federal tires...now if I have the money BFG's are the ticket but if you want a cheap quality tire I was shocked by the quality of this tire...way better than falken, Sumitomos, or Nexen junk...I have tried them all bro!

sumi's are orite, i would not buy them again unless im on a really really tight budget. Ive had much better traction with 275 NT555's DR then these 315's out back, no doubt. My next tires will be Nitto's.

yeah i currently have sumitomo htr's soft tire, i think they wear fast, on my 2nd set, i get new ones every 2 years, daily drive, never done a burnout or drive too hard too often. But i do like them better than the kumos, i've also had the escta's (also lasted 2 yrs) gonna buy rims sometime this year and want to try bfg.
