    Awkward "will it fit" question...

I need to have a spare on my 02 in preparation for a long drive coming up, well I don't have the spare to a 93-02 f-body but I do have the spare tire to my 1989 Firebird, will the spare clear the brakes? I can't just go outside and check cause neither vehicle is close to me right now

Biggest wheel offered on the 3rd gen was a 16"..

The smallest wheel on a 4th gen is a 16" and they will fit over any stock 4th gens brakes.

With that said,, as long as the spare from your 89 is from a car that had 16' wheels it will work.

If the spare came from 3rd gen that had 15" wheels it prolly won't work for you..

If that is we're talking about the "space saver" spare or donut.

To add if now you're talking about a full size spare, then yes the 15 will fit as many folks use 15's for thier drag radials..

Mostly this fit or not fit pertains to the donuts.

Yup, we are talking about the donut spare. My firebird is the Formula model so it did come with 16' "WS.6" wheels so it might work eh

    It will go right on..

My 92 Z had 16's and my 89 RS had 15's there was a notable difference in the donut center depth from the 15 to the 16 spare..

    Just a little more info..lol

Now if anyone is wondering why that is..

It's because the 3rd gens on 15's usually had drums out back, and the cars with 16's usually had disk brakes on the rear..
