    315s?

Will 315s work on a 9.5 in. wheel and not rub? Do you have to mod any? From what ive read some people say they will, some say they wont, and some say mounting the 315 on the 9.5 isnt safe.

    not safe.
315/35-17 is to be properly mounted on a 17x11 to 17x13 rim.
on a 9.5", the wheel is too narrow, the tire will buldge, and it'll actually perform worse than if you had 275/40-17 on them.

    as another point of reference,
275/40-17 are to be properly mounted on 17x9 to 17x11, ideally on 17x9.5"

I love wide... don't get me wrong... but if you gonna do it, do it safe and properly, and in a fashion that it actually gives you an advantage.

some 315s, yeah... some, no. depends on the actual thread width and sidewall stiffness, as well as how much sidewall ratio you have to play with.

I went with the Sumitomo 315's since they were cheaper and I was buying four rims and eight tires all at once. They fit great and wet/dry grip is good and the wear is nice. Would probably go with Nitto's for my next set of 315's as the look is so much nicer.

Well, since I bought 12 units, they cut me a good deal. Got the 275 fronts for $85 and the 315's on the back for $102.

I just had to get those to afford the rims along with my wifes tires.

Yeah, One thing that I've figured out over the years is that discount will haggle the price for a sale. You can take them add's from other stores or even tirerack.com and they will competitively price to match. I knocked a few hundred off my total purchase by buying that way.
