315's

This is a discussion on 315's within the Wheels and Tires forums, part of the General Help category; The Nitto 315 is a little thinner than most 315's. Helps them fit a touch better....

    What size rim is the minimum for 315's? This would be nice to know for future reference just incase I go bigger than my current oversized 275's.

    I like to have an 11" wheel for 315's.

    Some have ran them on the 9.5" wheels. The Nitto DR is probably the best tire to do that with....if you want to risk it.
    Several have done it without problem though.

    Did you say that because u remembered my wheel size or because its just fact?

    I'd rather not risk it, I guess if I decided to go that big I'd have to sell the rears and buy new ones in the same color and style with the correct width.

    This is true as Nitto 315-35/17 measured 11.25" on the same rim I am running Yoke's in 315-35/17 and they measure 12.75".

    After I changed to Yokes I did have to roll the fenders.

    The specs on the TTII's are the typical backspacing and offset for the F-Body.
    Click me.

    Rarely is anyone in the back seat, but it has happened. I bet if I filled the car it would rub something though.

    not sure... quite uncommon size.
    that would make the tire a whole inch taller than the stock size.
    remember that you have the same amount of sidewall on a
    275/40-17 and a 315/35-17
    remember that it's a ratio
    sidewall = 40% of 275mm = 110mm
    sidewall = 35% of 315mm = 110.25mm

    almost stock triple-black 2000 SS convertible with 17x11s on all 4 w/ 315s at the track or on the street with 18x10.5s on all 4 w/ 315s: (1), (2)

    false...
    the overall width will be less if mounted on a 9"
    Not to mention that it's far from wise to mount a 315 on a 9" wheel.
    315/35-17 are to be mounted on 17x11 to 17x13 wheels.

    I Agree A 315 On A 9 Inch Rim Would Be Dangerous, Not To Mention The Tire Bulge I Imagine Wouldnt Look Very Good

    If your tires are too wide for the rim they'll bubble out over it and there for cause stress where the bead connects to the rim and you cornered to hard there's a chance that the tire could pop the bead and break free from the rim. Possibly causing a wreck. Basically the tire is just too wide for the rim to be safe.

    555's hook excellent depending upon how much power you put to the ground.

    They are heavy. But it didn't matter too much to me seeing as how I don't race on them.

    Aired Nitto DR's hold the street as well as aired MT DR's do in my opinion.
    They are terrible at the track though in comparison.
