315 Nittos on a 9.5" wheel (pics)
Since a lot of people ask about putting a 315/35/17 on a 17x9.5" wheel, I figured I'd post up pics of my Nitto 315/35/17 Drag Radials mounted on my extra pair of 17x9.5" Torque Thrust II 's. There is no gross mismatch, or "You're gonna die as soon as you make a turn" bulge like some would have you believe, in fact they fit rather nicely IMO. You will notice a slight bulge of the tires where they contact the ground, but that's only due to me forgetting to air them back up before taking the pics. The front tires are Sumitomo 275/40/17's, which are also "narrow" for their size, but barely narrower than the Nitto 315's.
The measured width of the actual tread is roughly 10", and the widest part of the tire, or as they call it, the "section" width, is 11". Most, if not all, other 315/35/17's are too wide for this size wheel, but the Nittos (regardless of their inflated width claims), fit fine. They actually fit better than my old 275/40/17 Yokohamas fit my old 17x9.5" ZR1 wheels. (shown below)
Anyway...here ya go.
(Here's my old 17x9.5" replica ZR1 wheels with 275/40/17 Yokohamas on front, 275/40 Nitto Drag Radials on rear...Note that front tires are clearly wider than rears, which sucks.)

Red Tint Jewelcoat- 2008 Trailblazer SS
I do believe because of how the Nitto DR runs so thin, I will be going with a different tire next time I replace the tires on my 17x11's.
Looks like a decent fit!!
For reference...the 315 Nitto DR is the ONLY 315 I would fit on a 9.5" wheel.2008 Trailblazer SS
Yank PTB3600, Kooks 1 7/8" LT's, 4" intake, E-fans, Magnaflow, Sonnax kit, tranny cooler, tune.
Lowered, HID's, tinted.

I cant believe how damn small these tires run. I have my Nitto DR sitting side by side with my BFG KDW TA 275's... and the difference is very noticeable. I wonder why its like that?

I'm pretty happy with my Nitto 555s 315/35/17 on my 11' rims. I really needed something bigger to get rid of the bulge lip that the smaller tires have on them.
Are the DRs that much diff compared to the 555s or about the same?
The DRs look good on your 9.5" rims.
