How wide a rim for 275/17 tires on front?

How wide A rim do you need to run 275/17's on the front. I bought a set of tires and rims from the tire rack three years ago and I ordered (2) 17/10 rims and( 2 )17/8 rims for the front. The tires looked to wide for the rims on the front, which is a 8inch wheel.Just how wide do the rim need to be . I felt that the 10 in for the front was going to be too wide. What back spacing do I need if I do the 10's for the front? Don't want the 4 wheel drive look.

I would think you would need a 9 in. wheel to run a 275

As said above, stock tire size is 275/40-17. The stock wheel size is 17x9.

Go with some Nitto NT555's up front in 275/40 x 17" and some Nitto 555R's or MT ET Street radials in the rear in a 275/40 x 17"! Unless you are a corner carver then I would go with some Nitto NT555, Goodyear F1 Eagle II's DS-3, Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval, or Michelin Pilot Sports. I am not talking about for road racing just if you enjoy to push some corners on your Sunday drive... Of course the first sets of rear tires mentioned are for the avid street beater who doesn't wanna be a had ass from a stoplight!

to run 275/40-17s, you need a rim that is 17x9 to 17x11
If you gonna put a 17x11 in the front, might as well put 315s
    almost stock triple-black 2000 SS convertible with 17x11s on all 4 w/ 315s at the track or on the street with 18x10.5s on all 4 w/ 315s: (1), (2)

That the same tire I run on my Z28. I have been very pleased. I only have a couple thousand miles on them so we'll see how they last but for the price who cares. Mt car only sees about 5000 a year with about 2500 of them being power tour.
