i dont know how front tires would mess up the speedo since it gets its info from the transmission. maybe i would go somewhere else to get tires. do you have a mavis or sts nearby?

if the car came with that size.. look at the label on the inside of the door.. it'll say the size. bring it to them and tell them LOOK, the car is designed for this tire size.. put it on or i'll take my business else where.

if that fails just throw on 275's. mmm. meaty!

17" SS rims come from the factory with 275/40/17 tires and that is what you should put on there. Some retard shop or previous owner must have put the 255's on.

yes, she is correct your speedo could be off, but it would be off very very little. Its not like a gear swap or anything. In the future never listen to anyone who works at a costco, walmart, sams club, goodyear, pep boys etc. - 95% of them don't know a fucking thing about cars, and even less know anything about a muscle car.

it should probably be somewhere closer to 32. look on the inside of the drivers door for what it should be.

The tire indicates the amount of air pressure it should have. Check the sidewall. Discount Tire always puts between 32 and 36 in my tires and they should have 51 in the rear and 42 in the front. Different brand of tires. When they're at 32 they look like they're almost flat and the car also feels sloppy on the road.

No, you don't want to put the PSI indicated by the tire. That's MAX psi.
You go by what it says on the door. If you want to get real precise.. you want to look at your tire wear to determine if your tires need more or less air in them.

not to hijack the thread, but how wide of tire can you put on the stock SS rim? I know some people put 285's on them. can you do 295 or is that a bad idea?
