22" wheels on trans am how crazy is that?
Hey everybody, well its that time of year again and on april 23 I will turn 18. For my birthday my dad has offered to buy me a set on 22" rims to put on my 1998 trans am. At first I laughed at the idea but, the more I think about it the better I would like to have a kick ass set of 22"s . I mean they would have to look better than my powdercoated ZO6 rims. Has anybody on here ever put big rims on there car? I thought about running a 285/45/r22 would I have any conflicts?

The stock tires are only 25"-26" tall. You'll have 3"-4" of tire sidewall, total. It'll look absolutely ridiculous. If you like the bigger wheels, save your dad some money and buy an 18" or maybe even a 19" (but I think that's too big even).

so they would fit right? b.c. the tire size would only go from 275/40/r17 to a 285/45/r22

Your car would look like it was riding on SUV wheels.

I get what you guys are saying and I don't intend to make my car look like an absolute jackass. I just figured since my car sat low it would look like it was tucking the rims a lil.
I DO NOT INTEND IT TO LOOK LIKE THIS!!!!!!

Just something to think about.
Personally, I would never go with 22's. I've seen 20's and didn't even like them.

If you want *cough* bling then you're asking the wrong crowd. Honestly, the sexiest looking car in the world rolls on some 15 inch welds. More tire is better than more rim IMO.

Is this an extended april fools joke? Those wheels are hideous. And 22's. If you want those sell your car and buy a v6.
