    17x11's

Any one with a pic of their 17x11's from the rear to show their fender clearance? What I'm looking at is the lip from the top over the tire.

I'm curious as to if I need to roll or cut mine. I'm a 2002 WS6 Trans Am... If that matters

With an 11 you are going to have to roll or grind the fender a bit, you will also have to massage the inner fender where you feel the tire rubbing on the inside.

I've already massaged it in anticipation using an old "how to" post on here, but it was unclear on rolling or cutting. Thanks for the input. Now I've got to decide which is better. I've seen rolled fenders that looked amazing. It had a real professional look, but I'm afraid that water and grim might get so caught up in between the lip and the inner fender that it will cause the fender to rust.

On the other hand getting them cut rules out the risks of rolling, but doesn't look as professional....

Use a grinder much cleaner and can be smoothed out.

okay... that makes sense. they are metal instead of fiber glass.

then I'll just have to touch up the paint if it cracks.

NEGATIVE! if you get the correct offset rim you will NOT have to do BFH or roll the lip, I have NO issues w/17x11 ttii's, NONE. T/A's, Firebirds and Firehawks should be fine, Camaros are a different story. YMMV

    Those are both clean pontiacs
Of the people I know who bought aftermarket 11's specifically for our cars they had to do some modification. I guess I should ask them there offset.

In another 17x11 wheels thread the guy says that you don't need to do anything to the fenders; rubbing isn't a problem. He also said to get a 50mm offset.

camaros need 50mm. they can run 36mm but will stick out. on the ta's you can run 50mm with bfh mod. or run the 36mm with doing nothing. the quarters on the ta's stick out more so you can get awat with the 36mm.

thanks I'll look at that. Mine is a little more of a guessing game. My 17x11's are actually widen speedlines... they balance out fine and everything, but I had to get longer wheel studs from ARP. THey are a whole inch longer than stock, so I can run up to an inch spacer like this: http://www.jegs.com/i/Baer+Brake/136/2000014/10002/-1

Right now I have a 5/8 in spacer which keep the wheel and tire well within the fender wells, but even after the BFH mod I am hitting the insides of the fenders just under cornering and when I have to caddy dips to keep the nose from rubbing, turning onto steep banks.
