17 x 7 rims?
I was browsing at various on-line rim stores for new rims for my '99 T/A and noticed that quite a few of the rims coming up were 17 x 7 and 17 x 7.5. I thought the stock rims were like 9" wide. Won't I lose quite a bit of traction going from 9 to 7 in width or am I reading that wrong?

if you are planning on keeping the 275/40-17 tires, yes. my suggestion is to keep looking.
Cold Air Intake, Muffler Delete, Vinci High Performance Dual Valve Springs, Hardened Pushrods, Yella Terra 1.85 Rockers, Some Hydropdipped Stuff, Strut Tower Brace, Some SS Badges, boost/vacuum gauge, fuel pressure gauge, some checkered stripes, drilled/slotted rotors, ZL1addons Stealth wickerbill, Ruxifey LED side markers

triple-black- 2000 CamaroSS convertible
if you only want to dragrace, it's ok... but it's pretty skinny for road use especially that these cars are nose heavy and require big tires to turn nicely.
I'd go widerEugenio_SS
almost stock triple-black 2000 SS convertible with 17x11s on all 4 w/ 315s at the track or on the street with 18x10.5s on all 4 w/ 315s: (1), (2)

I dont think 7in wide tires would be took good for the rear of the trans am. 7wide up front and 11wide in back, now that would be a pretty good combo.
Either way, get at least 9.5wide and some 275 tires.

Thanks guys. You confirmed my suspicions. I just couldn't believe they even listed those as an option for our car. That's why I thought I was somehow reading it wrong.

17x7 would be something you would put on a Volkswagen or a Honda, even the 16'' wheels for camaro/TA were 16''x8'' with a 245 tire
