16" to 17"

will changing from a 16 inch wheel to 17 inch wheel change my speedometer?
I had the factory 16s on my trans am. Thanks, any input will help.

IF you keep the overall diameter tire then you will be fine. I went from 245/50R16 to 275/40R17 and the tires have the same diameter.
