Can anyone tell me if the Z06 18/9.5's with a 56mm offset will fit on the front of my 1998 z28 with factory ground effects? What size tires should I run in the front. Will 275/35 ZR18's fit up front. I'm looking for some new wheels. What else would look good with ground effects? Smoothie II's?

I'm running the same rims all around. I have Good Year GS-D3 tires and the 275/35/18 fit in the front with out a problem. I put 285/35/18 in the rear. I hammered the inner wells to make sure they don't rub when flying around corners. My car is lowered so if your not lowered then you probaly wouldn't need to hammer the inner fenders. 275's are stock for an SS/WS6, but they do have a little spot on the rear inner wells that are recessed in a bit. They did not do this on the Z-28 or Trans-am.

I've been looking on ebay for a while now. AFS has some wheel and tire packages that sound pretty good. Tell me what you think?
1. The first package is 4-18/9.5's with 275/35 ZR18 Dunlop Direzzas for $1345.
2.The second package is 2-18/9.5 and 2-18/10.5 rims with Toyo TIR 275/35 ZR18 for the front and 295/35 ZR18 for the back for $1495.
3. The third package is 2-18/9.5's and 2-18/10.5 rims with Vredstein tires. 275's for the front and 295's for the back. $1295

I've always ran BF Goodrich on my car, and have been very pleased. What do you think of some of these tires? I know the Dunlop's are pretty expensive, but I don't know much about any of these tires. Would you buy a wheel and tire package or buy them seperate? I know you can buy a set of 18's aftermarket for around $600-$700 on ebay. Thanks for your help!

If your ok with doing a little hammering I'd say go with number 2. I've never had good luck with dunlop's, although I never ran the Direzzas. I've ran the SP9000's that are a step up from them and I didn't think they were all to great, very noisy. I've heard Toyo's are supposed to be pretty good tires. I never hear anything about Vredstein tires.

I bought the 18X9.5's chrome ZO6's from AFS a few weeks ago with the Vredstein 375-35ZR18's.

1. AFS- Great transaction, fast shipping, excellent price. Perfect wheels. I would recommend them highly based on my experience.

2. I love the Vredstein tires so far. AFS posted alot of info on them. I researched a little on the web. They are made in Canada I believe. Mfg sells the 275-35ZR18 for $311.00 each. Hell, that is like getting free wheels for buying tires from AFS. They ride quieter than my Yokahoma AVS ES's. For the price of the combos AFS sells, even if they only last a few years it is worth it.

3. I have an 01 Z with factory ground effects as well. No issues at all. Mine isnt lowered though. If yours is, than the fronts may be a problem.

I was also looking at these wheels. Do you have any pics? I heard the rear tucks up in the fender wheel a little deep.

That setup really looks good! Are those Vredestein tires? AFS says the Vredestein 275 is wider than most 275's. Has anyone had any problems with rubbing in the front? The price for 4-18 by 9.5's with Vredestein almost sounds too cheap? $1,285 Has anyone had any problems with this tire?

Hey, I'm also thinking about getting Z06's for my Firebird. I don't think these are the same ones though that you are talking about, how do you teall them apart, when booth are called Z06?

This is the new C6 Z06 wheels, which I didn't know they made. The z06's that I'm buying, and what most people put on, are the C5 corvette Z06 wheels.

Oh, now when I look closely on the information about the wheels it actually says C6, didn't know it meant the model though. Yeah, most people seem to put on the C5 wheels, haven't actually seen one single F-Body with the C6 wheels, does someone know where I could find pictures of a Firebird with the C6 wheels on? That picture is a photoshop I made, do you think they fit the Firebird?

Depends on the size? Most vette rims are 17's in front and 18's in the back.

go to ebay and look up c6 rims by a company named bonesenterprises. They have pics of rims on firebirds and camaros with most of the colors and styles.

Mattg, I have the Vredstein's. 275's are nice and wide. NO rubbing issues in the front at all. (But it is close.)

Also, you may want to double check your auction. Unless the price went down in the last 3 weeks, the $1285 was for the C5 style Z06's. I thought the C6's were like $200 more??

Hi all,
New here. I have a 2000 Formula that I plan to purchase 18X9.5 C6 wheels as shown above (red TA) I want to lower car about 1.5", can I get away with 275's all around with out modifications?

I may (but rather not due to tire rotation) have to run 245's up front and 275's on rear.
Any help would be much appreciated.

275's on all 4's should work fine. You might need to bang the inner rear fenders a bit. Fronts fit with no issues.

What does it entail to make room in fenders? (besides beat fenderwells lol)
Is it a large area that needs to be reworked?

I figured it would rub in front when I turn, never thought it would be the back thats a problem.

All you have to do is take a nice big hammer like a 5 pounder and pound in the section to the inside and infront of the inside edges. basically from the 9 - 11 o'clock position on the drivers side and 3-1k o'clock on the passenger side. just make sure your back seat is in the up lock position. Most of it is easy to move except for the reinforced spots. You can use a smaller hammer to smooth out the big dent marks. Make sure you have a wire wheel and some undercoating handy. You will beat off the undercoating and expose bare metal. After you smooth and undercoat it no one will notice what you did unless they know the cars well. Once I find a camera and get some time I'll post pics of that area too. These cars love large front tires! Happy pounding!
