    1 1/2" spacers for C6 Corvette wheels...

    Hey guys -

I ordered 1 1/2" spacers today to mount my 19" x 10" Corvette C6 Wheels and Hoosier R6 tires (295 30 19) on the rear of my 2002 Camaro SS for use on the track (road course).

They were no help at "garageracing" where I ordered the spacers, so I just measured from the flat portion of the wheel (where it mounts flush to the wheel bearing assembly), to the top of the inside edge of the wheel on both the 17" SLP 10 spoke wheels on the car and the C6 wheels.

The difference was 1.5", and I have heard to use both 1.25" and 1.5", so I ordered the 1.5 spacer. However, I didn't pay any attention to where the outside edge of the tire will end up, and just realized it could hit the wheel well? Does anyone have any specific experience with this or a similar set up?

Also, if the tires do hit the wheel well, where would I go to see about having the fenders rolled? I live on the west coast of Florida.

    Thanks.

    Steve Nix

I dont have any personal experience... but thats a pretty wide tire....315 is about as big as will fit, and your spacer is gonna make it as wide as about a 325. and being on a 19....

It'll be damn close either way

Yeah, just think about it. To go from 295 mm to 315 mm, that's only 20 mm, or about the width of two dimes! I'm talking about 1.5 inches! I guess that is why I am asking?

Also, where do you go to find out about getting your fenders rolled?

get a baseball bat as fat as you need it, jack the body up, place bat between fender and tire, lower car, tilt bat handle down, carefully roll car back and forth regulating angle of the bat till desired result is achieved. a little heat gun where the bend is going to be may help keep the paint from cracking.

It has been done since the dawn of hot rodding. easy to do but yes the key is to get the fender to about 110deg buy heat gun or letting it bake out in the sun.

The 1 1/2" spacers worked perfectly...

They worked great with the stock C6 wheels, and the Hoosier 295 30 19 tires. No rubbing issues on the fender with the C6 wheels, but when putting on the stock Camaro SS 10 spoke 17" wheels, it's going to be close. If it's a problem I can take the spacers off, but it looks good, and I don't drive much where I have a lot of suspension travel. I'll give it a try first, and then make a decision.

I messed that measurement quote up pretty badly. 1" equals 25.4 mm. In any event. I don't need to roll the fenders with the track wheels/tires.
