02 WS6 Speedlines....What tire can I fit please....
Im a newbie and I did do a quick search and couldnt find the answer to my question....
I have a 02 WS6... I want to autocross the car some, but mostly will be street driven. I just picked up a set of the stock 02 WS6 speedline wheels for the car. Can I get a tire thats wider than stock on them? or at least looks wider?
Also... what would be the bet tire for my type of driving with the car? Thanks in advance!

Try 285 or 295/35/17 so you can keep your turning radius. You can try Falken or Nitto. Other members will chime in as well.
If you plan to auto-x, then you should get a spare set of rims and look for C rated, or Competition rated tires like Falken, Nitto or Continental. I could be forgetting other tire companies, but this should give you an idea of what to look for.
Keep us posted.

Black- 00 camaro ss M6 #6695
it depends on how wide is the rim..
if its 9.5 dont go wider than 285/
if its skinnier than 9.5 go for 275/

On the speedlines I would suggest 285s. 295s are a bit much for a stock speedline wheel imo

tirerack.com will tell you each brand's 275/285 etc will fit on what size rim. If these tires are going to see daily driving and autox the nito nt-05, nt-01, falken azenis rt 615, and the kumho ecsta xs (preference in ascending order). The rt 615 and xs both kick ass anything less and you'll find yourself pushing through the corners at an autox track.
Don't ask how many miles they are good for that depends how much fun you have
And look at onlinetires.com for the cheapest prices, find a store near you that price matches and be done with it.
oh and don't expect these to treat you well when the weather goes south.

275/40/17 are going to fit the factory wheels best.

Ditto on this one. The factory rims are only 9" wide. Coincidentally every tire manufacturer states that a 275 wide tire is best optimized on a rim between 9-10". Therefore to maintain the efficiency of the tire, without it buldging etc you don't want to go bigger than the stock 275/40/17.
look into a set of 9.5" rims if you want to go a little bigger. A LOT of aftermarket wheel companies sell various rims in this size.
I auto X too and run the factory tire size in the front and run a 315/35/17 in the back on a 17x11" rim.

having neither the time or money to put into an extra set of tire to bring to the track, I stick with the nitto's that I DD on. If I were to have a set to put on the car just to Auto X, I would strongly consider something like the BFG R-1's. The big thing is to know the rules of the sanctioning body or event chair that you plan to race under. by going with slicks, etc you may end up placing yourself in a class with bonified race cars.

I do it for fun, class makes no difference to me.

I do it for fun as well. lol I just like to feel like I'm running with people in my own league. It's like pulling up to john force's funny car on a test and tune night at your local drag strip every time. It would get old after awhile for me, to know that I was going to get crushed every time. Bottom line for me and Auto X is to try and better my time every run.
