Claybarring is simple, keep the clay lubricated, don't drop it. If you do drop it, throw it away.

And the impurities it picks up off the car wont hurt the paint as long as I keep it lubed up good? Does the bar have to be kneaded or rolled to prevent anything from happening?

You will have to knead/roll it from time to time as you are using it. You aren't going to hurt your clear coat/paint with the impurities that the claybar picks up.

Read somewhere that its also helpful to put a little dish soap in the spray bottle to help with the claybar lubing. Does that matter or is pure water better?

All clay bars today are the same. Patented.....by some lucky bastard.....all the synthetic clays today state clearly not to use water/soap....use the spray wax detailer stuff and wipe it down to a shine then move on.....now back in the day with regular clay we used soap and water....

Zaino recommends that you take 1/2 capfull of their car wash and mix it in an empty Z6 bottle. It is much less expensive than using the Z6.

Also, Z5 is for swirl removal and works well but you want to finish up with Z2. It will make your paint "pop".

In between each coat of Z2 or Z5, you should use Z6. Everything works better and is eaiser to apply this way.

We'll be expecting to hear an update of your impression of zaino products once you're done! Also, while using the "gay" zaino, if your butt starts whistling, drop the terry cloth and RUN..don't walk..AWAY...
