    Ws6 Hood

I just got a new GM WS6 hood today. I didn't want to go with a cheaper fiberglass after market one so I paid alot! My new more expensive GM seems to be fiberglass as well. Are all WS6 hoods fiberglass? Is there an advantage to my more expensive hood over an aftr market one? Just wondering...

my 98 and 99 are both fiberglass, only advantage is probably better fit ,better to spend a little extra and be satisfied than save a few bucks and be pi$$ed off because it has a crappy fit, just my 2 cent from a body shop owner

I believe my '01 is fiberglass as well. Doesnt feel or sound the same as the headlight covers, which are metal. I think most of all the bodypanels are fiberglass/plastic, except for the headlight covers and rear 1/4 panels.

Thanks Guys...I wanted to make sure I got the best. If Fiberglass is the only option for a GM ram air hood I am satisfied. Does it hold up or is there problems that could arise? Is there anything I need to avoid or do to protect the hood .

the stock hoods were metal...SS, Firehawk, WS.6, the Ultra Z hood theyre all fiber, some have steel reinforcement, kinda what makes em sooo easy to fix, unless you snap one in half...GM WS.6 hood is like $1800 though isnt it?, versus an aftermarket like $800 for a nice one?

I paid 1500 plus 140 for shipping for my GM hood. I tried mine before paint last week and it was a perfect fit. I hope to have it installed by Wednesday.I guess that is where the value is...sometimes it does not go as smoothly with aftermarket hoods...adjustments sometimes have to made. I spent alot but I don't feel as though I paid too much.
