    Z28,

    Wire hide mod

Has anyone did this? Hiding the wire harness on the passenger side fender. I saw this a few years back. Is there a guide somewhere?

All you do is make a 2" by 3/4" hole by the pcm to run the wires into and connect them underneath the fenderwell. I will post up a few pics real quick

saw it on ls1tech and always wanted to get rid of the wires that run along the passenger fenderwell under the hood. took about 30 minutes. didn't have my camera to show how to do it, but you'll get the jist of it.

remove the passenger tire and inner plastic fenderwell. cut a rectangular hole and separate the wires from their connectors and push through. the ones that come out from the nose area will go through the hole that's already there by the headlights in the fender.

move the ground wire down below the fender by the battery. there was a hole there already. just had to thread the lug into it.

    and here's how it looks

Cold Air Intake, Muffler Delete, Vinci High Performance Dual Valve Springs, Hardened Pushrods, Yella Terra 1.85 Rockers, Some Hydropdipped Stuff, Strut Tower Brace, Some SS Badges, boost/vacuum gauge, fuel pressure gauge, some checkered stripes, drilled/slotted rotors, ZL1addons Stealth wickerbill, Ruxifey LED side markers

Okay. I'm getting ready to do this mod, for both sides. Just to make sure, I'm only making holes big enough to slip the wire looms/air hose through the metal work. Does this weaken the shock tower sheet metal in any way?

There is no need to drill anything on the driver side. You need to cut one hole
that is 1 7/8" on the passenger side.

IS this same thing doable on an LT1? The wiring is a tad differant.

you can also do this on the driver's side to hide the hood latch cable - though you only need to drill a 3/4" hole. speaking of which, i was able to get away with just drilling a 1 3/4" hole on the passenger's side. just try to get the hole as close to the hood strut mount as you can.

i would also suggest not moving the ground mount to where mrr23 suggests (sorry bro). that hole is used to hold the plastic inner fender in place. i created a new hole to use.

You don't need to drill a hole to hide the hood latch cable. My hood latch cable is hidden and no hole was drilled for it. Do a little more studying in there and you will find a way to hide the hood latch cable without drilling

My local club is getting together in a couple weeks to do multiple mods. A local car repair shop is lending us the space to do it.

Here is another link to LS1 Tech on the mod:
