Winter Project (Powder Coated Calipers)

This is a discussion on Winter Project (Powder Coated Calipers) within the Appearance Section forums, part of the General Help category; I took Triple H Coating's advice and paninted the entire caliper and had the paint cut. Very nice lines now....

    Just curious...

When you take your calipers off to get them powder coated, I would assume that you need to totally disassemble everything (pistons, etc) before powder coating them correct? You can;t just tape off everything because of the heat?

I took them totally apart and bought rebuild kits for them. I wasn't sure if the heat would f up the o-rings or not.

    Very nice indeed!

Just an FYI.... they will take the heat to coat without taking them apart, but I wouldnt recommend it. The fluid trapped in the holes will cause a huge mess in your oven and all over your part. Ask me how I know

Also, for anyone else looking to do this, it looks really trick on drilled and slotted rotors if you go all the way and have the surfaces coated and cut

yeah id think that if they can handle handle the heat they generate from doing their job, then they should be able to handle the heat of an oven

    LOL
Well i'm not taking the spindels off, and my whole car dosent fit in an oven. I figured the next best thing would be Por 15. Its better an spray paint and they will never rust again.

Well the project is finished and I am very happy with they way they turned out. I decided not to paint the spindles because I didn't think they would turn out as good as I wanted them to and you can't see them with the wheels on any way. Please give the car a brake, the suspension hasn't had time to settle out from being on jack stands all winter.

Thanks guys for the complements. Now I bet you can tell what my next project is going to be. The R-30 should give it away.
