Where to go from here?
Ok. I was originally going to go with an updated smokey and the bandit theme to my car. I've got the gold rims (powdercoated), trans am side moldings painted gold, and the rear pontiac painted gold. I also have the interior accents such as speaker grills painted in gold. I would be getting the bird on the hood painted on in an outline, and made bigger to be more proportioned to the hood. The only thing left really are the famous double pinstriping. I did a paintshop today, and wanted to get some opinions. I know it looks crude because it's paintshop. I either want to go this route, or I want to do things in matte black. Which that means repowdercoating, painting, etc. Let me know what you guys think...be gentle...

Like i said i know they're crude. The pinstriping would be the double pinstriping (one thick one thin) , professionally done.

Leave off all the gold pinstriping and go with gold side scoop inserts. Maybe a pinstripe along the edge of the rear wing that runs down the side along the top of the doors and wraps around the nose. Just my opinion. Not bashing.

Thats fine I want opinions. I've been doing research on all the matte stuff. I wouldnt mind possibly doing a matte form of all of this which would include front turn signal blackouts, and rear tail light blackouts. Basically everything thats gold turn matte black. black out the side markers, ect. Rims repowdercoated black

Post up some more chopped ideas to help us help you out. I have always been a fan of black/gold since I ever laid eyes on a T/A.

I'd have a 4th gen bird on the hood. As a reference to a matte style, Year one kind of did it when they did the burt reynolds edition...

Like I said, i want to do this right, and make it complete, but spice it up a bit. If The pinstriping/bird could be a matte/color finish, where its black in one angle, and gold in another, that would be badass I think...kind of like flashing it's heritage if you will

And do the smokey pinstriping/bird in the matte-turn to gold finish? I dont think anyone's done it before and i think it would be a throwback to the 70s. I just wonder how much that paint would cost

I like it cause its like history to the car but then i dont cause it looks kinda weird. I have mixed feelings on it but its probably 70% like and 30% not like.

the only thing id add to the exterior of your car would be gold grille vents on the sides and gold overlays for the "pontiac" on the headlight covers and rear and the same for the front license plate bird

Arctic White & Black- '98 WS6 M6 - SWAPTIME!
i like the theme overall but the pinstriping is a little much. are you talking doing the whole scheme in flat black instead of gold or just the pinstriping? the entire scheme (bird and everything) would be badass in flat black with no pinstriping, in my opinion.

Don't do the pinstripes... just doesn't go with the contour of the car.

I'm trying to find a place that can go from black to gold reflective. 3rdgendecals has a kit that i could do this custom. It would look black in one angle, and gold in another. What do u think of that? I'd do what you see above in it. bird, pinstriping. black to gold
