Black- 2002 Camaro SS
want to remove stripes, will my paint look bad?
pretty much what the title says... my recently purchased 02 SS came with stripes (which are vinyl, not paint, and peeling on the edges). Most people wouldn't notice, but it has been buggin the hell outta me. So two questions here: whats the best way to remove the stripes without screwing up the paint, and is my paint going to be a different color underneath? the car is black, and the paint on the rest of the car still looks very good. there is ~20k miles on it, supposedly it was garaged by the previous owner unless being driven. anyone have relevant experience or any input?

you might be able to wet sand the paint where the stickers were... but you would need to shoot a new layer clear coat.. I dunno, is anyone a body man or woman? lol

use a hair dryer to heat the stickers up and that will help but it will be a pain in the but you shouldnt need to do any thing to the paint after you get all the adheseve off. its up to you if you see its faded and want to paint it after that

Worst case scenario the paint under the decal will be darker than the paint on the rest of the car. Just give it a great detail or have someone buff out the car and it will be fine.

i bought my car w/both orange hockey stripes and hood stripes.
my car had 21k on the clock. they were vinyl, and after washing the car i peeled them off with just my fingers. they came off and then i washed the car again and waxed it. left no lines, no scratches, didnt damage the paint or finish, etc...
just grip and rip. no need to use a hairdryer/heat gun, car is black. put it out in the sun...

Onyx Black- 02 Camaro Z28
When I bought mine it had yellow stripes on it. My buddy saw an edge and decided to start peeling. I had 35k when i bought mine and the paint was fine underneathe. Just getting the adhesive off was a pain in the ass... took me a weekend to do (between work and such). But as far as the paint goes, you should be just fine. Mine doesn't even have a fade line and it was garaged i believe.
