    Question Vinyl Hood Stripes

The owners manual for my 2011 SS provides no information on care of the vinyl hood stripes. Since they are flat or at least semi-gloss, I hesitate to wax over them. How do you clean and protect these stripes?

Read the instructions on all of your cleaning products from now on.

Use only car wash soap, only for vinyl decals.
On using Wax, I know Turtle Wax does'nt like decals.

The main thing is "Read the Instructions" on everthing you treat your car finish with.

And when you do apply wax, the instructions will say to go in a circler motion, I would do that on the part of the car with out decals and when you get to the strips go over them in a long-gated stride.

I know some of the synthetic sealants can go over anything. I use Klasse All-in-One and it can go on rubber, plastic, metal, glass, whatever without issue. Might look into switching to something like that, or Zaino, or the other popular sealants that are safe for all surfaces...? Then wouldn't have to worry about avoiding the stripes or accidentally getting wax on them or whatever...

Thanks for the info. I have thought of using Zaino, I liked it on my '04 GTO and might give it a try.

Long term I think I might look at having the stripes painted on in gloss black. I seem to recall that the original Z28s had the stripes painted on from the factory.
