Trans am Spoiler

Im trying sell this extra trans am spoiler I have and one of the kids I asked as a potential buyer said that it wont work on his car because he has a firebird hatch and spoiler. He said that its molded different or something. Will a trans am spoiler fit on a firebird hatch, or is he right?

Are you talking about just the wing or the entire hatch? Just the wing will not fit unless he likes it to look absolutely stupid with the little firebird wing with the TA wing bolted on top. You would have to drill through the small firebird spoiler to bolt on the TA wing. There is no way to swap them out. If you are talking about the whole hatch with the glass and all then yes it is an easy swap, I did it on my old Formula.

I was talking about just the wing. I have never really looked at how they were set up I was just going by what he said

The TA spoiler will only work on a TA hatch

I have seen at least two threads where someone has swapped out the small spoiler for a larger TA spoiler. One was on a TA convertible which comes with the small spoiler, and the other was on a Formula. It can be done but it requires alot of work.

I agree, it's not right on a convertible. But it does show that it could be put onto a Formula or a 6-cylinder Firebird if someone wanted to do it. And I think it looks much better on a coupe than the small spoiler...

Totally agree that the TA one looks better, but not on top of the firebird one.

Agree, that is one sick formula, but he swapped out the whole hatch to get that spoiler on

That looks better but still not right. Almost looks like it slopes down and sticks too far back. Must have been a lot of work to get it to look like that

Actually I just saw this quote about that one:

I took the skin from a hatchback and the skin and frame from a convertible and put them together.

So you guys may be right after all. My two 'examples' may not be good examples. One swapped the whole hatch, and it looks like this guy may've also swapped the trunk lid as well...

Either way, pretty sure the OP got his answer a long time ago. I say leave it the way it came from the factory unless you feel like swapping the whole hatch.
